# Tracking Your Applications

Last updated: March 3, 2026

## Where to View Your Applications

Every job you apply to through Metaintro is tracked automatically. You can find your full application history in the **Jobs of Interest** section, accessible from the left sidebar on both desktop and mobile.

Within Jobs of Interest, your applications are organized so you can quickly see which positions are active, which have progressed, and which are no longer open. You can sort the list by date applied, company name, or current status to find what you need.

## Understanding Application Statuses

Each application moves through a series of statuses that reflect where you stand in the hiring process. Here is what each one means:

### Applied

Your application has been submitted successfully. The employer has received your materials but has not yet reviewed them. Most applications remain in this status for a few days to a couple of weeks, depending on the company's hiring volume.

### Viewed

The employer has opened and reviewed your application. This is a positive signal -- it means your resume and profile caught their attention enough to take a closer look. Not all platforms provide this level of visibility, but when available, Metaintro surfaces it for you.

### Interview

You have been invited to an interview or are currently in the interview process. This could include phone screens, video calls, technical assessments, or on-site visits. Check the job listing or your email for scheduling details.

### Offered

Congratulations -- the employer has extended an offer. Review the terms carefully and take time to evaluate the opportunity. If you need guidance on evaluating offers, start a new Thread with Metaintro's AI to discuss compensation, benefits, and negotiation strategies.

### Closed

The position is no longer available or the employer has decided not to move forward with your application. This can happen for many reasons that are unrelated to your qualifications. Do not be discouraged -- use it as motivation to continue applying to other opportunities.

## Setting Up Notification Preferences

Staying informed about application updates without constantly checking the platform is key to a stress-free job search. Metaintro lets you configure exactly how and when you receive alerts:

1. Go to **Settings > Notifications** from the sidebar or profile menu.
2. Under the **Applications** category, toggle on the updates you want:
  - Status changes (recommended)
  - New messages from employers
  - Deadline reminders for pending actions
3. Choose your delivery method: in-app notifications, email, or both.

We recommend enabling both in-app and email notifications for application status changes so you never miss a time-sensitive update like an interview invitation.

## Follow-Up Best Practices

Following up on your applications shows initiative and genuine interest. Here is how to do it effectively:

### Timing

- **Wait 5 to 7 business days** after submitting your application before sending a follow-up. This gives the hiring team enough time to review candidates without feeling rushed.
- If a job listing mentions a specific timeline (for example, "applications reviewed on a rolling basis"), adjust your follow-up timing accordingly.
- After an interview, send a thank-you message within 24 hours and follow up on next steps after 5 business days if you have not heard back.

### Personalization

- Reference the specific role and something you discussed or found compelling about the company.
- Keep your message concise -- three to four sentences is ideal.
- Avoid generic templates. Hiring managers can spot a mass follow-up email instantly.
- If you have new information to share (a relevant project, certification, or achievement), mention it briefly.

### Channels

- **Email** is the most common and appropriate channel for follow-ups.
- **LinkedIn** can work for a soft touch, especially if you connected with the interviewer.
- Avoid calling unless the employer specifically invited phone follow-ups.

## Keeping Your Profile Updated

Your Metaintro profile directly influences how well you match with open positions and how employers perceive your application. Regularly updating it can meaningfully improve your success rate:

- **Resume** -- Upload your latest version whenever you gain new experience, skills, or certifications. Metaintro's AI re-evaluates your matches each time your resume changes.
- **Skills and preferences** -- Update your target job titles, preferred locations, salary expectations, and work arrangement preferences (remote, hybrid, on-site) as they evolve.
- **Career summary** -- A clear, concise summary helps Metaintro's AI understand your goals and surface the most relevant opportunities in your Threads.
