Trenton Police Department Launches Major Recruitment Drive to Strengthen Community Safety

Trenton's Fresh Face in Law Enforcement

Ladies and gentlemen of Trenton, the call for community heroes has been sounded! As announced by city officials, the Trenton Police Department (TPD) is on a mission to beef up its squad with some ambitious and community-driven hires. The department is eagerly fishing for new talent to bolster safety and regain community trust.

Steve Wilson, Trenton’s own Commissioner Gordon (minus the Bat Signal), underscores the TPD's commitment stating, "Our mission is to build a police force that reflects the community we serve." Seems like TPD is pushing for a team that doesn't just wear the uniform, but truly represents local values and diversity.

Who Can Don the Badge

For all the aspiring crime fighters out there, here are the credentials to get you into the big leagues of Trenton’s finest:

  • Age: 18-35. Young enough to run a mile but mature enough to know why you’re running it.
  • Driver's License: A valid New Jersey driver’s ticket.
  • Education: High school diploma or GED—your teenage years finally pay off!
  • Physical Agility: Must pass the Police Training Commission (PTC) standards. Time to hit the gym.
  • Background Check: Must be squeaky clean—no speeding tickets, please!

Mayor W. Reed Gusciora added, “This recruitment effort aims to ensure a police force that mirrors the values of our community.” In short, the department isn’t just hunting law buffs but those who can bring a friendly face to the badge.

Perks and Push-Ups

The TPD isn't just tossing you a badge and wishing you good luck. New recruits can dodge the infamous New Jersey Civil Service Entry Level Law Enforcement Examination—imagine skipping that headache!

Plus, future officers get a basket of goodies: paid sick leave, vacation days, access to specialized units (think: SWAT team envy), and even a uniform allowance—so you can stay pressed and dressed.

For those ready to roll, applications open from April 1st to May 1st, 2025, via PoliceApp. And sweet twist, there’s no fee to apply, so it's all want and zero wallet sting.
