Again! Everything’s bigger in Texas, including its job numbers. Once again, the Lone Star State is flaunting its employment prowess by shattering previous records for the 56th time in 58 months. Have you ever seen a rodeo that lasts nearly five years? Neither have we. But that’s how long Texas has been on a hot streak with its job market, according to the [Texas Workforce Commission (TWC)](https://www.twc.texas.gov/). In February 2025, Texas topped the nation with a jaw-dropping 14,254,200 nonfarm jobs, thanks to adding another 20,100 new positions to its roster. Talk about a respectable number... if you're a Texas-sized employment fan! More Texans are working than ever, with a labor force totaling a whopping 15,770,300. As the saying goes, "Y'all come back now," because with these numbers, it's clear everyone is flocking to Texas. ### The Growth Train Keeps Chugging February marked another significant milestone for Texas. The state experienced a job growth rate of 1.3% from the previous February. While a 0.1% lead over the national average might not knock your boots off, it still reflects Texas' steady steam engine of job growth. Key contributors to this surge include the Trade, Transportation, and Utilities sectors, which alone saw a bump of 7,400 jobs. Even the Leisure and Hospitality arena joined the Texan hoedown with a solid addition of 6,000 new positions. Governor Greg Abbott was quick to tip his hat to Texas' pro-growth policies and burgeoning workforce, calling the state a "beacon of innovation" and a "magnet for new business investment." Texas’ Financial Activities sector grew by 2.6%, outstripping the national growth rate by a notable 1.7%. Who knew finance folks could be sprinters? Texas hasn't just added jobs; it's diversified across high-impact industries, creating meaningful opportunities for its residents. But what about employment pitfalls? Fear not! TWC is also investing in the people side, with initiatives around career training, child care, and adult education to ensure the workforce is prepped and ready. Unemployment stood at a reasonable 4.3%, slightly rosier than the 4.5% national figure. Midland MSA boasted the lowest unemployment rates, with a sleek 3.2%. Meanwhile, some metropolitan areas like Eagle Pass didn’t fare as well, peaking at 9.1% unemployment.
